Frequently asked questions
Specification-level answers on sensor selection, accuracy, battery life, offline storage and gateway connectivity.
For ULT freezers, cryogenic storage and LN₂ tanks, use a probe-based device. The TS-PT external PT1000 probe measures down to −196 °C (probe dependent), and the TS-4PT covers −196 °C to +150 °C across up to four calibrated PT-1000 probes, so a single device can monitor several points in one unit. The snap-on TS and THS sensors cover −40 °C to +85 °C and suit cold rooms, refrigerators and standard freezers.
Accuracy depends on the model. The TS, THS and TDS measure to ±0.5 °C with 0.1 °C resolution; the TS-Logger measures to ±0.3 °C with 0.1 °C resolution; and the four-channel TS-4PT measures to ±1.0 °C with 0.5 °C resolution. The THS additionally measures humidity across 0–100 %RH to ±3 %RH.
Yes. Seemoto temperature sensors, loggers and gateways are designed and certified to EN 12830, the European standard for temperature recorders used in the transport, storage and distribution of temperature-sensitive goods. Devices also carry EN 13485, EN 61010-1, RoHS and — for gateways — RED conformity. Device certification supports your GDP, GMP and HACCP obligations, but it does not by itself make an operation compliant.
No charging is required. The TS and THS sensors run up to 5 years of continuous use, the TDS 3–5 years, and the TS-Logger 8–12 years depending on the application. The TS-4PT uses a replaceable battery with a minimum 1-year life. Gateways are mains or DC powered rather than battery powered.
Each sensor buffers readings in internal memory and syncs automatically once the connection returns, so the continuous record required for audits has no gaps. The TS, THS and TDS store up to 600,000 readings, the TS-Logger holds 13,700+ records (roughly 37 days), and the TS-4PT stores about 15 days of data when all four probes are in use.
Not necessarily. Sensors communicate with a gateway over secure encrypted 2.4 GHz wireless at ranges of 200–400 m line-of-sight, and the gateway forwards data to the Seemoto Cloud. The WGW and DGW gateways use their own GSM/SIM connection and operate independently of customer IT, which suits sites where network access is restricted. The EGW instead uses existing Ethernet or WiFi infrastructure.
Choose the WGW warehouse gateway for fixed sites needing independent GSM connectivity without customer IT involvement. Choose the DGW display gateway when on-site staff need live values visible locally, or for vehicle and fleet use — it accepts 5–31 V DC as well as mains power. Choose the EGW ethernet gateway where Ethernet or WiFi already exists. All three are compatible with the full Seemoto sensor range.
